SUN 6/8: CITIZEN VIDEO MOVIE MATINEE: "FLASH GORDON" - 4 PM
This one is going to be rad... a movie screening PLUS a bonus TRIVIA CONTEST, co-hosted by citizen video and bartendar extraordinaire, Scott Caligure. We haven't worked out what the prizes will be but we're sure they are going to be rad as well. We can also promise you lots of explosions, a psycho wedding, and a very slutty space princess with an Italian accent. As far as the plot.... I'd bet you'd never guess it's about Flash Gordon saving planet Earth from an evil and conniving space pirate, Ming the Merciless (no, that won't be one of the trivia questions). Get your space suit on and join us (we'll buy a shot of your choice for the best Flash Gordon outfit).

SUN 6/22: CITIZEN VIDEO MATINEE: "MR. FREEDOM" - 4 PM
"Mr. Freedom" is a hilarious and unpredictable satire of imperialism in the guise of a superhero movie. It plays a bit like an issue of Captain American written by Rush Limbaugh. Set to larger than life costumes and sets, purposely overheated dialogue, cartoonishly over the top characters, and the brutal slaying of singer/actor Serge Gainsbourg, the plot involves Mr. Freedom establishing democracy in France while at the same time weeding out the evil influences of communism. The film was directed by American expatriate and former fashion photographer William Klein, who manages to balance some of the campier aspects with searing social commentary.
It's definitely citizen video's type of super hero movie.
