THU 10/4: 5th ANNUAL SAN DIEGO WOMEN'S FILM FEST KICKOFF PARTY!!!
The night will feature trailers, short films, singer-songwriters and DJs. Following night the film fest begins at the Museum of Photographic Art and Reuben Fleet Science Center, both in Balboa Park. For tickets and all day passes call 619-374-1121.

The neighborhood will be jumpin as the Walkabout does its first Saturday night. Walkabout is when all the shops in South Park have open house parties and special sales. It's a blast. Then DJs Gabe Vega and Saul kick off the always hot Transport til close.

One of the most beloved events at Whistle. Happens every 1st and 3rd Sunday afternoon. Start now and you'll have bunches of cool gifts for the holidays. Hosted by ever-smiling Knitmaster Jen and her 45 rpm spinning co-pilot DJ Tony. Plus it's happy hour prices on everything til 8pm.

WED 10/10: HAPPY HOUR w/ SECRET APOLLO'S VIDEO PARTY, 6PM
This will be a very hapnin happy hour. Secret Apollo are a very fun indie pop band that makes music as well as they make movies. They will screen a collection of their videos, giveaway prizes, play some demos and let Whistle's dollar-off happy hour prices work their magic til 8pm.
THU 10/11: Words Rule!!! DUAL BOOK RELEASE PARTIES FOR GREG GERDING & MIKE SAGER + acoustic set from THE STEREOTYPES
Co-hosted by Citybeat. Wow, this night will be an epic must see for literary bargoers. Greg Gerding is a local wordsmith and documenter of bar culture. His books and readings NEVER bore. Mike Sager wrote an article about So Cal's 70's porn Industry and that article inspired the film BOOGIE NIGHTS. Tonight he will read new work along with his L.A. Times best seller - "Scary Monsters and Super Freaks: Stories of Sex, Drugs, Rock 'n' Roll and Murder".
FRI 10/12: ROBIN ROTH'S PUSSY GALORE, BAND & DJS
San Diego loves Robin and we love Pussy Galore. Live performance from crunch pop faves THE SOFT LIGHTES. Happens every 2nd Friday of the month. Great bands, bumpin' DJs and no cover. Sweeeeeet.

Its October and Horror is the theme of this months Sunday Matinees from CITIZEN VIDEO. This movie sets the standard for pre-computer horror special effects - and it's pretty damn funny, too. 3PM

Great double bill. The Vision of a Dying World writes cool pop for mean streets. Red Pony Clock is a bohemian rhapsody folk song fiesta.

Gabe Vega won best DJ of '07 at the San Diego Music Awards. Hear him and Saul where they started and never left.
